Chapter 8

That Saturday night Dracula and Liz flew to Romania. Liz had never flown in a plane before and she felt nervous entire way there. She didn't understand why it was necessary to fly via airplane since Dracula had teleportation abilities. But she thought perhaps he wanted her to feel normal and not so uneasy about instantly arriving at a far away location. Liz was still trying to get used to the things Dracula did while using his powers as it was. Of course flying by plane was no coach ride. In fact somehow, Dracula and Liz were the only ones in first class. Liz put two and two together and figured it was again because of him. Though it was her first time in a plane it definitely was nice.
As soon as they would arrive at the airport in Bucharest, Dracula would immediately teleport him and Liz, along with her belongings, to the Castle Bran. During the plane ride Dracula gave Liz a synopsis on what went on his castle. He told her all sorts of creatures lived there. Many different monsters dwelled in the walls and in corners and they wouldn't hurt her, he promised that. But he warned that many may frighten her and to be careful when roaming the halls. Dracula also mentioned the amount of booby traps that were in his home as well. He told her if she goes exploring to be careful walking around, for even the safest looking places could be riddled with traps. He told her of the Lycan pins. He kept quite a few werewolves as pets, and guards. Dracula also informed Liz of his vampire lieutenants. His highest ranking officer and most trusted in his castle was a vampire by the name of Count Orlox. Orlox was a gentlemen and Dracula knew he would respect Liz. However there was another loyal vampire that was a part of Dracula's inner circle. Her name was Carmelia. She was apparently quite difficult to get along with, and he advised Liz to stay away from her.
It would be close to sunrise when they arrived in Romania, and Dracula \ would have to be going to sleep in his coffin not long after they arrived. He figured Liz would be up during most of the day since she was human and she had his permission to explore his castle while he was asleep. But he again warned her of the creatures and traps in his castle. Many of them came out during the night but several different monsters came out during the day as well. He also warned her of a few places in the Castle Bran that wouldn't be wise to explore at all. It included the clock tower, the dungeons, and the catacombs. Dracula made that point very clear.

When they arrived at the Castle Bran, Dracula had teleported them directly into a huge bedroom. The bedroom could have very well been the size of the penthouse Dracula used in Philadelphia, maybe a little smaller, but no doubt it was insanely big. The bedroom had no windows and nothing but candles lit everywhere for light. It was dark, but the incredible amount of candles was as crazy as the the bedroom was big so there was more than enough light to see. The bed that sat directly in the middle of the room looked like a throne or shrine because the bed was twice the size of the bed Dracula had at his penthouse. It stood about 2 or so feet above the stone floor and had a set of mini steps going up to it. The bed was draped with a canopy and Liz saw it had luxurious royal red and gold sheets and blankets on it. It was very elegant but very flashy at the same time. However she couldn't really complain.
There was nice antique looking furniture all around the room. As well as a fair amount of priceless or rare collectables hung on the walls or set nicely on a shelf or table. It was like the two had teleported back in time, Liz felt. The bedroom looked like it was the 1500s. But all she could do was gasp in awe and amazement at the entire room. It was fantastic to her as well as strange and awkward.
"This is the master bedroom!" Dracula said in a proud presenting voice.
"Whoa! This room is awesome!" Liz said back.
"It is magnificent. I hope you enjoy your time here. However sunrise will be very soon so I must tell you of a few more things. When you awake later today, I will have a servant of mine come to ask if you are hungry and what you would like to eat. Since I am allowing you to have your explorations of my castle while I slumber, you will most likely get lost at some point or another. There is a solution to this. My castle is filled with dark things, yes, but there are also some useful things. A teleporting chamber. If you are lost, try your best to find a wall that is made out of red brick. It could be any wall in any room that has red brick, so you'll have to search. On that brick wall, somewhere, will be a large pentagon carved out of the brick. Find the pentagon and use this..." Then Dracula handed Liz a glass ball that looked like an oversized marble. The streaks in the large round sphere were an aqua green color and it shined like a pearl in the light.
"Set this down in the middle of the pentagon. It will form a portal that will teleport you back here."
He pointed down to signally that he meant back into his master bedroom of the castle.
"Ok. Thank you." Liz smiled at Dracula, knowing he was thinking of her.
"I 'programed' it do that, as you humans often say. I will be back in this room after sundown to see how it is you're doing before I go out and feed. I do require at least 2 to 3 hours to get my fill. Then I will be back here with you. Is it alright with you Elizabet?"
Liz thought it was nice of him to ask if the arrangement was okay for her.
"That's just fine with me." Liz said as she tried to mask a yawn. "I'll probably be sleeping all day myself since I was awake all night."
"Do what you please. You rest now. I can see you are very exhausted." Dracula then kissed Liz and said "I must be going now. My coffin is waiting for me and sunrise will be in a few minutes. Please do not feel too lonely while I am asleep. Know that I will be missing you as well."
Liz was just about to say how much she was going to miss him and thinking about how lonely she was going to be when he was gone during the day. Dracula had read her thoughts as she was thinking them, knowing she was going to say something about it after he was done speaking.
Liz just laughed a little and blushed.
"Guess you read my mind. I'm going to miss you too."
"Goodbye my sweet Elizabet." He kissed her one more time and then left the room through large wooden double doors that looked to be several inches thick.
Liz sighed and began digging through one of her bags for pajamas to wear. After changing into comfortable clothes she climbed the small steps into the enormous bed, found a comfortable spot to lay in, and was asleep within five minutes.

Liz awoke several hours later. When she opened her eyes and looked around there was nothing to indicate the passage of time at first glance. She felt like maybe she had slept for an hour, or maybe she slept for 12. She slipped out of bed and looked all around the room. Then she noticed on the other side of the bed against the far wall opposite the door, was a large grandfather clock. It looked ancient and surprisingly it still worked. The clock said it was around 3. Liz assumed it was in the afternoon but there was of course no daylight in the room to tell. Just to be sure Liz dug through a bag of hers and pulled out her cell phone. She looked at the time, in which she had to change the time zone for to fit accordingly. It said 2:58 pm. So it was the afternoon. But because of daylight savings time, and the fact that it was early June, dusk wouldn't be for another 5 or so hours. It disappointed her. Five hours before Dracula would be up, and then another two or three for him to feed.
Liz sat there for a minute on the side of the bed, her feet dangling quite a few inches above the floor. She first thought to herself that it had been many years since she could let her feet dangle and not touch the ground. Being so tall, even as a little girl in elementary school, her feet touched the ground when she sat in the big chairs and desks. She had been jealous of the other students who could swing there feet back and forth while doing work in school. After Liz thought of that, she began thinking of what she would do until Dracula got up. Then Liz looked over to a table that was in the front of the room, of which was part of a living room set of sorts with a large parlor looking chair next to it. And on the table was a large glass vase that had a pretty arrangement of roses and lilies in it. And to make it complete was a huge oriental rug. But Liz also noticed on the table was the oversized marble Dracula had given her before he left to sleep in his coffin. The greenish-aqua colored streaks seemed to glow with the shiny pearl like quality it had. It must have been at an angle where the candle light reflected off of it making it seem to shine brightly like that. So Liz decided she should do as it beckoned. To explore the castle and see what cool things she could find. Liz obtained the feeling of excitement, or more a feeling she had when she was little and she would explore the woods around her neighborhood, or explore places she knew she wasn't really allowed to go to.
Liz got dressed in her normal everyday clothes, which usually consisted of some pair of jeans and a t-shirt that was humorous or showed support for a band she liked.
When she was ready to leave Dracula's master bedroom she thought of leaving the giant marble behind. Her train of thought was that she was going to prove she didn't need a teleportation device to find her way back. She would only go so far everyday. Today she would only explore the hallway to a certain extent. She would walk along not opening any doors until the hallway would not allow her to continue going straight; such as hitting a set of stairs that went up or down or having to turn a corner. Liz hoped the hallway wouldn't turn a corner for at least a good long length of the corridor. She wanted to do some serious looking around but she didn't want to get lost on the first day. But exploring a large place like that meant the 5 hours could fly by.
So Liz decided to leave the marble behind. She promised there would be no exceptions the first day. She would only explore the hallway that the master bedroom was in.
Liz opened one of the double doors that led to the corridor. It was extremely heavy, but she managed to get it open enough to peek her head through and keep the door from closing.
When she looked out the door she noticed that the hallway ended right at the master bedroom. There were two doors; one on the right and one on the left.
Liz opened the door some more, enough to let her entire body exit the room. Then as she got her last foot through the crack of the door, she noticed that she could see right to the other end of the hallway. Liz guessed it was about 40 or so feet to the opposite end of the corridor, which also had big heavy wooden doors.
"So much for doing any real exploring today." Liz said to herself disappointed that she knew it would be a short hallway and she wouldn't go far at all.
But she made a promise to herself, and subconsciously to Dracula, that she wouldn't go too far, as to not get lost on the first day she was in the castle.
So Liz just looked around the hallway not going into any of the other four doors that were there. They could have just been other bedrooms, but she also remembered the immense amounts of traps Dracula warned her about. Liz didn't want to get stuck in some sort of alligator pit or a demented scientist's laboratory. So she refrained from entering any of the doors. However Liz's natural curiosity got to her when she got to the other set of double doors. She just had to see what was on the other side of them.
She was a little nervous trying to open the doors but she soon realized there wasn't anything to be scared of. Poking her head out, she saw that the hallway continued left, right, and forward. Straight ahead led to a set of stairs that went down. Liz just looked as she kept the heavy door open enough to see all three ways. There were more doors down to the left and right with candles lit on the walls for light. Both corridors looked just like the one she was peeking her head out from. Nothing really strange was going on so Liz just closed the door and went back to the bedroom. She decided she would explore further than what she had the next day, and try to remember how to to get back on her own. Liz thought it was a good plan to know and mentally map the castle. She wanted to prove her smarts to Dracula, perhaps impress him with the knowledge of it and where certain things are when he talked about them.
But Liz was bored and thought she should take a nap and just stay in bed til Dracula was awake from his daily slumber.
PLEASE READ
This is my
Castlevania fan fiction that I actually wrote a long time ago. I hadn't originally planned to post it but I've decided to in order to motivate me to finish the sequel "I'm Married to Dracula". I know the titles seem pretty cliche and dorky but I dunno, that's just what I named them. XD Anywho, it wasn't supposed to be a FF in the first place, but I started to notice there were too many similarities between my story and Castlevania and so it became a fan fiction. This is also why some of the names and details were changed, but its definitely not an original work xD Also I just wanted to point out, I did kind of write this as a counter to the "Twilight" series because I absolutely hate Twilight. :/ This is what a REAL vampire story should be about! Vampires do NOT glow in the sun! They disintegrate into a pile of ash! Twilight is a disgrace to vampires and werewolves! So here is a more "accurate" story. XD
Hope you all enjoy!
